Celtic Attitudes goes to several Highland games each year, and this shirt reflects the rebellious spirit of the Highland people. The bagpipes accompanied any Highland army into battle, and the chilling tone was an ominous prelude to a terrifying Highland charge.

The British forces defeated Scotland’s Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745, and both kilts and bagpipes were outlawed. The pipes became classified as “instruments of war.” and to play them would get a piper executed. The British did love to ruin a party, but our Highland brothers would have none of that--thus the shirt.

In the end, the Highlanders won, playing their pipes with wild abandon all over the planet, chasing out the demons and conjuring up their fighting spirit!

Incidentally, our R&D department uses mass amounts of whiskey and bagpipe music to summon spirit guides from ancient Celtic battlefields and Druid sacrifices. These rogue spirits, when not stealing souls, haunt and inspire our creative process.
